After working overtime that day, it was almost eleven o'clock.
I pushed open the door of my house and subconsciously stood in the entrance hall for several seconds.
As far as the eye can see, there is a shoe cabinet. The shoe cabinet is at half height. It is piled with express boxes. The dust on the top of the shoe cabinet seems to be more, as if it has thickened again. There is a mirror next to it that can look at the whole body. It has been two years since I bought it, but almost no one has used it. Who has the spare time to use a mirror to look at themselves before going out? It is good to be able to get there without being late. But at that moment, I suddenly felt extremely tired, not physically tired, but as if I was blocked by something.
Do you call this home? This is called "entering the house."
Many people talk about the entrance hall, talking about "first impression" and "storage function", and they are all right.
But what they don’t tell you is that what the entrance really does is to block the outside world for you.
When it comes to color, don’t listen to those “feng shui masters”
The most outrageous entrance hall I have ever seen was painted dark gray, which is called "high-end gray" and "shows taste". The house faces north, so entering during the day is like night, so you have to turn on the lights. Just imagine, after a tiring day, you open the door and are greeted by a black hole. That feeling is even more desperate than working overtime.
Dark colors are not unusable.
Learn to be clever, like gray floor tiles that are close to black, paired with a suspended cabinet with a warm white tone; or a darker wooden wall panel with lighter-colored stone as a skirting at the bottom. There has to be room to breathe. There have to be gaps that allow light to penetrate.
Material is the easiest thing to overturn
Some people say that the entrance floor must be made of ceramic tiles, which are wear-resistant.
Yes, but not entirely.

My house used to be made of cold tiles. Every time I changed my shoes and stepped on them, my heart would thump. Later, I went to a friend's house. The entrance to his house was paved with distressed wooden floors. It was not made of solid wood, but a composite one, but with a deep texture and matte paint. The feet feel warm.
He told me that he asked the master to apply two more coats of wear-resistant paint.
You see, it’s not that you can’t choose, but you have to be willing to put in the effort.
Lighting, this is the "soul" of the entrance
But don’t install those pale and pale ceiling lamps.
Like interrogating a prisoner, the fatigue on your face is clearly reflected.
The high-quality lighting used in the entrance hall plays a "guiding" role in taking you home, not the kind of light that simply "illuminates" you. Currently popular is a light strip with induction function installed under the suspended cabinet. When you step into the home, the light will slowly rise from below, as if floating. This light will not produce a dazzling feeling, but will present a warm and cozy state, as if someone is really waiting for you there.
In one case, the lamp is hidden behind the painting on the wall, and the halo will be dyed on the painting. When you enter the door, the first thing you see is not the shoe cabinet, but the painting. The feeling is really different.
The position of the mirror almost sent me away
A friend of mine insisted on hanging a large mirror directly opposite the entrance door during renovation.
It is said to "expand the sense of space" and "organize your appearance when going out".

What is the result? One day, he worked overtime until two o'clock in the morning. Then he opened the door and was in a drowsy state. When he looked up, he found a black shadow appeared in the mirror... He told this content himself, claiming that he almost died at that time. I was so scared that I took the mirror off the next day and moved it to the side wall.
Mirrors need to be placed, but they need to be placed on the left and right sides of the door. When you go out, you can reflect them to enhance your aura. When we return home, what comes into view are walls, paintings, and things that can make you feel at ease.
Don't scare yourself. Life is scary enough.
Things that no one else tells you
Let’s talk about something no one has mentioned – a shoe changing stool.
It does not exist in many design drawings because it "takes up space" and "lacks beauty." But you try to ask a pregnant woman, or a person who has just run a 5,000-meter run, to change shoes while standing on one leg? Anyone who has tried it knows this embarrassing situation.
No matter what, even if it is a small stool with foldable characteristics, or a style that is integrated with the entrance cabinet, you will not notice it when you push it back, but pull it out when you use it. This is called "home thoughtfulness".
Also, remember to leave two sockets in the cabinet.
For power banks, for sweeping robots, and for shoe dryers.
Not being able to find these little things when you need them is more annoying than anything else.
I'm not asking you to build a model room

If you look at those decoration websites, the screens are full of "new Chinese style", "minimalist style" and "light luxury style".
The photos are too beautiful to be true, cold and unpopular.
One of the most comfortable entrance halls I have ever encountered was in an old lady's home. The space in that place is not large, but on the right side after entering the door, there is a relatively narrow wooden board. On this wooden board is placed a blue and white porcelain bowl. There are several White Rabbit toffees in this blue and white porcelain bowl all year round. I heard that this was specially left for my grandson. Even though his grandson has gone to college, these candies are still there, and the bowl has never been empty from beginning to end.
The entrance hall has gray walls and an old-fashioned wooden cabinet. The door of the cabinet does not close tightly, revealing half of the scarf.
But it just makes you want to sit down and stay a little longer.
So don’t worry about “style”.
The design of the entrance is not for others to see.
It is for yourself, at the moment when you open the door, there is a place where you can sigh slightly and then tell yourself:
Arrived home.
Let’s stop here for the ups and downs outside.
