When I was a child, I memorized the "Three Character Classic" just to make it smooth.
When I was young, I was chanted loudly, "In the beginning, human nature is good", as if singing. When an adult inquires about what is being memorized, I don’t know. If you ask what this expression means, you have no idea at all. At that time, to me, it was just a series of meaningless syllables, a so-called "talent" that I was forced to show when I visited relatives or friends' houses.
## Until a few days ago, I was constantly scrolling through my phone late at night until I had insomnia.
Subconsciously, I went to the Internet to search for the "Three Character Classic". It's not just reading, it's like looking at an old friend who has been separated for many years and wants to see if he has changed.
When I looked at it, I saw it was three in the morning.
"Mother Meng, she chose a place next to her."
When I was a child, I thought that my mother really liked to toss and move around constantly, but she didn't feel tired at all. When I look again now, all that lingers in my mind are my father and mother. They did not move, but they initially sent me from my hometown, a small county town, to the city to study. Later, they further sent me to the provincial capital to continue my studies. Isn’t this exactly a modern version of a “choose your neighbor” situation? They left themselves safely where they were, but they tried their best to change me to an environment with a better quality that could be called a "neighbor".
My eyes are a little sore.

It turns out that when you grow up, you can read the tears between the words.
"Fragrant nine years old, can warm the table."
I'm nine years old. What did I do when I was nine years old? He was probably hiding under the covers and reading comics with a flashlight. At that time, my mother came in to tuck her in. I was tired of being bothered by her. However, Huang Xiang, a nine-year-old boy, already knew how to warm up his bed first, and then respectfully ask his father to take a good rest.
It's not that I'm unfilial, but that no one is here to teach me. In other words, the truth about "filial piety" has only stayed at the level of "dictation" and "being able to recite", and it has never really penetrated into my heart.
## Our generation seems to owe a lesson in "being a human being".
The school teaches mathematics, Chinese, English, and all skills that can earn points.
However, few people teach how to deal with parents, how to deal with friends, and how to deal with one's own easily impetuous heart.
The "Three Character Classic" covers everything, "filial piety and brotherhood are the first, and knowledge is the second." It puts being a human being before knowledge, first becoming a good person, and then becoming a capable person.
"When you are four years old, you can make pears."

Four years old, what can a child as big as four years old understand? What is understood is instinct, possession, and "everything mine belongs to me." However, Kong Rong just gave up the big courtesy to others.
This is not pretending, this is the foundation of tutoring.
Now if we look at the news, there are many brothers and sisters who went to court to compete for real estate, and then ended up no longer in contact with each other until they died. In fact, they are no better than a four-year-old child.
## Those "outdated" principles have always been waiting for us there.
"The head is cantilevered and the thorns are conical."
When I was young, I thought this was a form of self-abuse, a perverted behavior. Isn't the current "curl" just another form of stabbing the buttocks with a cantilever beam? It's just that the ancients stabbed the thigh, but now we stab the heart, which makes the involution so anxious that it can cause myocardial infarction.
The ancients told us in this extreme way: learning is hard, but not learning is even harder.
"If you don't study when you are young, what will you do when you are old?" This sentence is really heart-wrenching at the moment. Encountering a crisis at the age of thirty-five and facing unemployment at the age of forty, isn't this the consequence of not studying well at a young age? Of course, it's not that I didn't study, but that I failed to master the methods of coping with changes and failed to learn to continuously improve and grow.
## The most interesting thing is that I started to wonder whether "nature is inherently good" is right or not.
According to what is said on the Internet, Xunzi held the view that "nature is inherently evil". Babies will have the behavior to eat when they are hungry, and will not take into account whether the mother is tired or overworked.
I thought about it, maybe both are right.

It is a neutral state at birth, just like a piece of white paper without any trace. Due to the subsequent family environment, the influence of school, every different person you meet, and even every book you read, this originally blank paper has become what it is now. Therefore, "Sex is similar, habits are far apart", Confucius said this sentence that contains profound wisdom.
## After I checked my phone, it was almost dawn.
I dug out the "Three Character Classic" and sent a message to my son who was still sleeping, although he would not be able to see the message until tomorrow:
"When you are older, we can read it together."
Not for any other reason, but just to let him know that there is a situation in this world, which is extremely complicated and busy, and everyone is rushing forward eagerly. However, there are some things that cannot be discarded and forgotten. Examples are as follows, such as the filial piety towards one's parents; the respect for one's elders; the awe in the face of knowledge; and even at the most impetuous moment, one can still calm down and recite a few sentences of "In the beginning, human beings are inherently good."
These ancient antiques from thousands of years ago have actually been waiting for us there.
After we have fully hit those many walls, suffered a lot of losses, and been severely rubbed away by life, we suddenly wake up like waking up from a dream——.
Oh, it turns out those words are all true.
