After becoming a mother, I didn’t have any other skills, so I just worried about the bowls of mud every day.

It took a full two hours of exhausting work, but as a result, the baby either closed his mouth tighter than a seashell, or vomited it everywhere after eating it. At that moment, I really had the urge to explode on the spot.

Looking back, I finally figured it out. What is the so-called nutritional pyramid and the so-called number of grams that must be eaten? They are all just like floating clouds.

If a child is willing to open his mouth, it is better than anything else.

Today, these three dishes were "assessed" by the extremely picky eater in my family and passed. The ingredients used are the most common in the vegetable market, and the cooking method does not have any technical content. However, it can make your baby eat bite after bite.

1. Tomato cod puree (6 months+)

For new mothers, it is extremely easy to fall into the misunderstanding that complementary foods are equal to boiled dishes and minced meat. However, if there is no taste, then the child will undoubtedly not accept it. This is an inevitable result.

Ingredients:

1 small piece of cod (about 50g), 1/2 tomato, 2 tablespoons of baby rice noodles

The bones of the cod should be removed, and the spines should also be removed. This point must be emphasized a hundred times. Just touching it with your fingers is not enough. You must check it again against the light. Cut the cod into small cubes and marinate with lemon slices for 10 minutes.

2. Make a cross on the top of the tomato and scald it with boiling water. The skin will be easily torn off and chopped into small pieces.

3. Steam the cod for 8 minutes, take it out and puree it with the soup and meat.

Put the chopped tomatoes into a non-stick pan without using oil, stir-fry over low heat until the juice turns red. Pour the cod fish paste into it and stir evenly. Turn off the heat and stir in the rice noodles.

The first "fresh" taste on the baby's tongue is the natural sweet and sour taste of tomatoes, which can perfectly cover up the fishy smell. The cod is very tender, as tender as a cloud.

When my daughter ate for the first time, before the spoon reached her mouth, her little mouth grinned into a shape like a deep black hole, and she made "ah~ah~" sounds in her mouth, constantly urging you.

2. Steamed Eggs with Pumpkin and Yam (8 months+)

Don’t just think of drinking traditional Chinese medicine whenever you think of nourishing your spleen and stomach. You should know that food is the best medicine. However, the prerequisite is that you must make it as delicious as a dessert.

Ingredients:

20g pumpkin, 15g yam, 1 egg

Remove the skins of pumpkin and yam, cut them into small cubes, steam them for fifteen minutes, then take them out and press them with a spoon until they become pureed.

Beat the eggs and add 1.5 times the amount of warm water. This step is critical. If the amount of water is too small, the cooked egg custard will become stale easily. If the amount of water is too much, it will be difficult to shape.

Sieve the egg liquid to remove any scum, cover with plastic wrap and make small holes, steam for eight minutes after the water boils, and then simmer for another two minutes.

4. Spread pumpkin yam puree on the steamed egg custard and mix well.

When this bowl was brought out, it was yellow. It was not a complementary food at all, but pudding.

The custard slides into the throat, and there is almost no feeling. The sweetness of the pumpkin is the kind of simple sweetness with the taste of sunshine. When children eat this, you don’t need to coax them at all, they just keep digging and eating by themselves.

3. Chicken and vegetable pancakes (10 months+)

The baby at this stage has already started to have his own little thoughts. If you feed him, he will fight for the spoon. If you try to calm him down, he will get up and take action.

So, stop feeding it and let him catch and eat it.

Ingredients:

15g flour and 1 egg yolk, paired with 30g chicken breast, 20g carrots and 2 small florets of broccoli.

The chicken breast was minced into a puree, the carrots were rubbed into very thin strips, and the broccoli was blanched and then minced into pieces. The minced pieces were about the size of rice grains. The purpose of this was to prevent them from getting stuck in the throat.

Place all the ingredients in a large bowl, add the egg yolks, then add the flour, then add a little water, and then stir into a thick paste.

In a non-stick pan over low heat, use a spoon to scoop it in and spread it into a small round cake. Fry each side for 1 minute.

This is not a piece of cake, this is the first toy that the baby has complete control over.

It has a slightly soft feeling and a bit of elasticity. The fragrance of the chicken and the crispness of the vegetables blend together. He picked it up, stuffed it into his mouth, and continued to bite it for a long time, with a look of satisfaction on his face. It was at that moment that you realized how stupid you were for chasing after him to feed him.

Finally, I want to say a few words.

In these three complementary foods, I didn’t add a grain of salt or a drop of soy sauce, all of which were the flavors of the ingredients themselves.

With a six-month-old baby, you can make the mud more fine and as smooth as butter. For a ten-month-old baby, leave some small particles for him to feel and chew on his own.

Don't be afraid, he can grab it everywhere with his hands. Once it's dirty, it'll be fine if you wipe it off. Once you lose that curiosity about food, it's hard to get it back again.
