Do you believe that our generation may be the last batch of Chinese people who will return home to drink that kind of soup?
It's not the kind of soup that you can drink easily and quickly, but the soup that your mother spent three hours carefully simmering on the stove. The smell of wolfberry and astragalus floats in it. When you first step into the house, your mother will eagerly look at your tongue. This is the kind of soup. It's the kind of soup that has the unique aroma of herbs, steaming heat, and a hint of obsessive-compulsive disorder.
On May 15th, a press conference was held in Beijing. Relevant personnel from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine told an incident that they included "food nourishing medicinal diet" into more than 400 TCM diagnosis and treatment plans. The numbers appear to be of an official nature, but when applied to daily life, they actually mean this: The simple philosophical concept of "you will make up for what you eat" upheld by our ancestors was finally put into the pocket of a white coat.
Suddenly I missed my mother
She doesn't know what "standardization construction" is, nor does she know what the "General Principles of Medicinal Diet Standards for Medicinal and Food Sources" are. However, she understands that I have to drink mung bean soup when I get angry, and I cannot eat cold food during my menstrual period. When the seasons change, there will be an extra plate of cold folded ears on the dinner table for no reason.
This is the Chinese "prescription", never in the hospital, but in the kitchen.
Medicinal diet, is it medicine or rice?
My father used to mutter: "Drugs are 30% toxic. If you stew them in this pot, what should you do if poisoning occurs?"

At the press conference, the expert made a very good point. This is called "combining medicine with food". Medicines rely on the power of food, and food helps medicines work. A simple translation is, if you are asked to take medicine, you will definitely frown, but if you stew the medicine into an extremely plump old hen, you will drink up all the soup and meat, and even lick your lips and ask "Is there more?"
This is a "deceptive health regimen" that only Chinese people understand.
How many pots are there between "experience" and "standard"?
To be honest, I felt a lot of emotion after witnessing that news. In the past, our medicinal diet relied entirely on "feeling". Grandma says this is good, and grandma says that is effective. Who should you listen to?
The situation is no longer the same as in the past. The country has begun to promote standardization, carry out discipline construction work, and train family doctors to provide dietary guidance with varying degrees of individualization. The Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Chinese Medicinal Diet Research Association have all taken active actions. The "Spring Solar Terms Healthy Medicinal Diet Guide", which sounds like a healing name, actually has a written version.
Just like that, the mother in the kitchen who was spreading salt based on her own sense suddenly got a measuring spoon accurate to the gram. It's not that I'm trying to replace her love, but I hope that this love can go through less twists and turns.
Three Factors: The most touching thing about traditional Chinese medicine
At the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, an expert put forward a term at a press conference called "Three-Adaptation to Conditions", which includes three aspects: adapting to current conditions, adapting to local conditions, and adapting to people's conditions.
What does it mean?

They all have the same disease, but the medicinal diet consumed by southerners and northerners is different; for the same person, the medicinal diet consumed by people in the spring and autumn are also different. It is not like the instructions for Western medicine, which have cold instructions of "take three times a day, one tablet each time". The instructions for medicated meals are dynamic.
For example, in the current season, assuming that it is at the intersection of spring and summer, the humidity in the south is relatively obvious. Some experts suggest that you should drink white lentil and adzuki bean lean meat soup; in the north, dryness is beginning to arise, and you may need to replace it with other foods that can nourish yin and moisturize the lungs. How can this be regarded as simply eating? This is clearly a solar term signal sent by God to you. You understand part of it, and the other part is reflected in the food in the bowl.
When I go to the hospital in the future, the doctor will not prescribe medicine but a diet?
What was mentioned at the press conference was that in the future, family doctors should be encouraged to provide personalized dietary guidance, and hospitals would even be encouraged to carry out projects such as "medicinal diet workshops" and "food nourishing kitchens".
I imagined the scene in my mind. You went to the hospital to see a doctor. The doctor did not prescribe you any medicine. Instead, he lowered his head and wrote a few lines of text. Then he handed it to you and said, go to the herbal medicine shop on the third floor to get a portion of angelica, ginger and mutton soup. Drink it while it is hot. After drinking it, go back and take a nap.
Thinking about this picture, it really makes people feel warm in their hearts. In the medical field, it is no longer just the cold equipment and pills. What is presented is that there is a bowl of soup brought to you by others, and this bowl of soup is just the soup that suits your current physical condition.
Of course, don’t deify it either.
I have a friend whose health regimen has reached an obsessive state. The thermos cup is filled with various medicinal materials, and he is full of hope that he can brew himself into a pill that seems to be able to move around at will.

Some experts have reminded that you do not just eat medicinal foods randomly. You need to implement meals based on syndrome differentiation, take care of the spleen and stomach, and make the five flavors harmonious. To put it bluntly, no matter how good the food is, it must be something your body can tolerate.
As you can see, the "Huangdi Neijing" that has been discussed in detail says this: "Five grains are used to nourish the body, and the five fruits play a supporting role." People obviously never mentioned that "the five medicines are the main part". Staple food has always been the staple food, and medicine has always been in a auxiliary position. Don't make eating like taking medicine, and don't make taking medicine like eating.
At the end of writing, I actually want to say this.
Medicinal diet has entered the plan, entered the guide, and even entered the hospital in the future. This is of course a very good thing. This shows that we are beginning to take our bodies seriously, and are beginning to trust the power of "taking it slow."
But I hope it doesn't become a new KPI.
Don't make everyone full of anxiety: If you don't drink the solar term soup today, will you get sick? Will I suffer a loss if I don't take the ingredients that have the same origin as medicine and food tomorrow?
The best state is actually to return to the kitchen. I don’t care about the standards or the efficacy. I just want to cook myself a bowl of soup that can remove moisture in this humid spring.
In that bowl of soup, the medicinal ingredients were secondary, and the compassion for myself was the most nourishing thing.
