The lion jumped and jumped, which was really dazzling.
When the gongs and drums exploded, I was stunned.
In fact, I was afraid at first.
On the first day of the New Year, my mother dragged me to the children's park, saying I wanted to watch the lion dance.
I was thinking in my heart that the lion dance must be quite good. If I were a little boy, I would definitely be able to participate in the lion dance.
When I arrived at that place, I saw three colorful and flowery "lions" from a distance, their heads swaying towards this side. I immediately turned my head, turned around and walked towards the back.
My mother grabbed me and said, "Don't you always want to see it?"
Only then did I realize that it was the lion dance.
It's amazing.
Such a big lion was actually played by two people.
One is standing and dancing, while the other is bending down and using his back as his body. They work together perfectly.
There are some "pillars" planted on the ground on the floor, called plum blossom piles. The lion is jumping back and forth on the thin piles. This scene makes my heart hang in my throat.
I mustered up the courage to step forward quickly. When I was about to get close to it, I slowly slowed down my pace, then stretched out my hand to touch it gently - ah, that hair was really extremely soft.
Why are all lion dancers male?
I looked around and was very puzzled.
Among all the 'lions', the ones with exposed faces are all men.
Not a single woman.
I told my mother: They are really capable.
But I am sure that women can become lion dancers in the future.
Later I realized that I was right.

I saw on the Internet that there is a Guangxi girl named Huang Yuxuan, who is 20 years old and has a quiet personality. She has the ability to perform a lion dance on the top of a twelve-meter-high iron pole. During the dance, she must make movements such as scratching her head and wagging her tail, and finally spit out a couplets from the lion's mouth.
The 80-year-old grandmother in the audience looked up and didn't dare to breathe until the lion hit the ground.
I picture that.
12 meters, about as high as a four-story building.
Is she scared up there?
She said that when she first started learning, she thought it was quite dangerous, but she could overcome it.
I can understand the lion’s mood
That day in the children's park, what fascinated me the most was the lion's 'mood'.
When it was preparing to walk the tightrope, it was at the edge of the pile. It first raised its front paws, then lowered them, then lowered them and then raised them again.
The hesitant look made me instantly understand clearly in my heart: It was in a state of thinking, that is, should I pass or not?
It was obviously a person pretending to be a lion, but at that moment, it was a real lion.
Later, after consulting the information, I found out that this is called "Literary Lion", which is dedicated to depicting the docile demeanor of a lion, such as scratching, licking, rolling, and shaking its fur.
There is also the "Martial Lion", which shows bravery, jumping, climbing and stepping on the ball.
But what I saw that day seemed to have everything.
It's scared, it's naughty, it's arrogant.
That thrilling jump
By the end of the performance, the lion needed to jump from one set of plum blossom piles to another, and the distance between these two sets of plum blossom piles was more than three meters.
I'm so afraid of it falling.
The whole place fell silent, except for the beating of gongs and drums.
The lion squatted on the stake, shook his head - and then jumped!

What I was thinking at that moment was: It’s over, it’s over, it’s definitely going to fall.
As a result, it landed steadily on the other end and even looked back.
As if to say: How is it?
The sound of gongs and drums sounded like thunder.
I realized that I was holding my mother's hand, and my palms were sweaty.
Pick greens, lettuce, make money
Later, I saw in the information that the last step of the lion dance requires "green".
What you pick is lettuce, which is homophonic to "make money".
Someone used a bamboo pole to tease the lion with lettuce, and the lion suddenly jumped up to grab it.
I remember seeing it in the village when I was a kid.
There were many people around the yard and it was very lively.
There was an uncle holding a bamboo pole with lettuce hanging on it. The lion saw it and pounced on it.
I asked my mother why she was grabbing the lettuce, and she said it was to "make money" and seek good luck.
I didn’t understand it at that time.
Looking back now, those gongs and drums, those lions, and those people jumping up to fight for the lettuce are not fighting for the lettuce, but the little hope in life.
The lion is real and so am I
People in Qabi Village say that the lion is the mascot of the Miao family, and dancing the lion means that the food harvest was abundant in the past year.
They play Miao drums, not landlords but lions.
There is a master named Yang Zaiping who started learning lion dance at the age of 8 and now teaches more than 50 apprentices.
His little apprentice, who was only 7 years old, would rush from the city to the village every holiday, holding a little lion head in his hand, and practice until he was sweating.

I turned to a photo. At night, the village square was brightly lit, and the lion dance team practiced until late at night.
They said: "We don't play mahjong, we only play Miaogu; we don't fight landlords, we only fight lions."
I read this sentence several times.
Then laughed.
very nice.
That lion is still jumping
When I went home from the show that day, I kept thinking about the lion.
Especially the moment when it looks down from the plum blossom pile.
I don’t know if the lion head dancer is really hesitating or if it’s just a performance.
But at that moment, I felt that it, like me, could be afraid and brave.
The fur is so soft.
This is what I touched.
It's stable when jumping to the opposite side.
This is what I saw.
Later, it and other lions walked off the stage, leaving only a big red lion standing there.
The eyes are as big as lanterns, and the mouth is like two big fans, one connected to the other.
I stood in the crowd watching it.
The sound of gongs and drums hasn't stopped yet.
The lion didn't leave either.
Years go by day by day like this.
